There is no better place to visit on the internet to capture the pure essence of September 11, 2001 and no better reminder of how precious life should be. James is an American Hero, but James is also an inspiration to young and old alike. Read about James and read his "guestbook". The comments and stories (many from around the globe) have literally changed the way I see my life and my priorities. Voices of September 11th was co-founded by Mary Fetchet of New Canaan, Connecticut, who lost a loved one in the September 11th attack. Voices was established informally in October, 2001, in order to provide victims' families with up-to-date information on programs, resources, services and related events. Weekly support groups were held for family members and the organization began to grow.

Voices' mission has since evolved to include a community-based program to assist families and extended families. Using the experience of the Oklahoma City bombing on its community, Voices works to address the long-term mental health issues of depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress and risk of suicide.

Because of the increasing demand of services, Voices of September 11th Secured a 501(c)3, non-profit status and opened an office in New Canaan, Connecticut. The ongoing mandate is to act as a clearinghouse of information for the 9/11 families by maintaining a website, distributing newsletters and conducting outreach programs. As an advocacy group on behalf of 9/11 families, Voices will communicate with public officials and other agencies regarding the World Trade Center Memorial, annual commemorative events and other issues.

As a community based organization, Voices provides support groups, bereavement groups, education, outreach, mental health assessments and referrals and related workshops. It is participating in Columbia University's 3 year World Trade Center Evacuation as an advisory board member.
